The CEO of Farmerline, Mr. Attah, and his team of professionals are poised to make the most of the platform the Congress provides, increase accomplishments and push forward the vision of the organization, which is to provide paid services that allow farmers access key information to drive their operations.
The company further depends on Voice and SMS platforms to provide improved information access and communication channels for smallholder farmers and others stakeholder-and the Mobile Congress will serve a learning ground for the team so as to deepen its commitment to developing solutions that will empower farming communities in Ghana and across the continent.
As part of its missions Farmerline continues to increase agricultural information flow, uptake and accountability in the services delivered to farmers and empower agricultural workers and actors along the value chain to collect and share information to drive food security.
Currently, more than 2000 smallholder farmers and fishermen are benefiting from the web-based mobile communication services offered by the company. 1000 subsistence farmers from northern Ghana and 1000 fishermen in the southern parts of the country are using the platform.
Through the services, agricultural workers send messages such as weather forecast alert, market prices, new farming techniques, agrochemical applications and inputs and finance to farmers and fishermen at subsidize fees. The platform also provides the option to collect data from farmers and fishermen, and also enables them to call into the system for advice.
