Role Overview

Connecting farmers to quality farm inputs and relevant information is key to Farmerline’s interventions in creating lasting profit for the farmers we serve while creating jobs for micro-entrepreneurs in the value chains we work in. For this, we are recruiting experienced agricultural/business professionals to scale our reach to thousands of farmers through agribusinesses and well-established farmer cooperatives. The Sector Manager will work to build new partnerships, ensuring that these partners subscribe to our core bundle of services including inputs, digital finance, and farmer education. Ultimately,  the Sector Manager ensures registered farmers in the operational area make a lasting profit

 

Responsibilities 

  • Establishes partnerships with key agriculture actors and agents including Regional and District Government Agencies, agribusinesses, farmer cooperatives, crop aggregators and input dealers among others. 
  • Ensures that agribusinesses and cooperatives subscribe to the core Farmerline bundle of services including farm inputs, digital payments, and farm education. 
  • Monitors the onboarding of farmers through various channels and agents in the assigned region.
  • Assists with the procurement of logistics for sourcing, storage and distribution of farm produce and products in the operational area, while coordinating the redistribution of inputs with the operational area.
  • Monitors the training of trainers and the training of farmers in the operational area, ensuring consistency in content delivery and data collection while reporting regularly.
  • Measures progress against goals, regularly reports on progress on key indicators such as the number of cooperatives or agribusinesses onboarded, farmers served with inputs and the number of farmers trained.
  • Develops key initiatives that will enable Farmerline to generate higher farmer impact at reduced costs. 
 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in Agricultural Science, Agribusiness,  or related fields.
  • Knowledge of the systemic challenges in agriculture value chains in Ghana, a passion for creating lasting solutions to them and ability to navigate farming communities.
  • 2+ years of professional experience - ideally with the implementation of farmer interventions and agriculture stakeholder engagement.
  • Deep understanding of farmer engagement and farmers’ interaction with technology.
  • Strong leadership experience and ability to lead a team in executing projects and exceeding targets.
  • Project management skills and the ability to create and stick to timelines.
  • Excellent oral communication, writing and presentation skills.
  • Language: English, Northern languages (Twi include) are required.
