Role Overview

The inventory officer shall be responsible for preparing the purchase orders, receiving, storing, issuing the goods, managing the stock levels and giving out the supplies from the stock as well as supervising offloading and documentation of commodities to buyers warehouse

Responsibilities 

  • Preparing the inventories, maintaining the stock records, using computerized systems for entering the records and is accountable for checking the supply invoices with the goods received.
  • Preparing the reports on adjustments done to inventories that may be damaged, spoilt, etc., and coordinates the purchasing, inventory and warehousing functions
  • Maintain a record of receipts as well as issuance of items that are going out of the warehouse so as to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Lead reconciliation of physical stock with the stock in the system
  • Responsible for keeping a close eye on the movement of stock from in and out of the warehouse.
  • Reporting discrepancies in inventory that indicate theft, such as too little inventory at last count
  • Implementing loss prevention programs to prevent theft
  • Ensure that all inventory processes are digitized in mergdata software
  • Undertake the function of stock taking and confirm the periodic stock on a regular basis by working closely with the designated staff members
  • Supervise the weighing and offloading of stock 
  • Keeping a close eye on the movement of stock from in and out of the warehouse
  • Develop, maintain, and adopt the best operational procedures and practices for inventory control
  • Any other duties that may be specified by the supervisor
  • Supervise offloading and documentation of commodities to buyers warehouse

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of  a bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
  • ICA/ACCA/CIMA qualification is an added advantage
  • High Computer literacy, which must include good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and google sheets
  • At least two years experience in managing inventory in a reputable organization
  • Experience in liaising with auditors

  1. Should be staying in Tema
  2. Ability to work under pressure and outside working hours where needed
